Ode to the Dove

looking outside my kitchen window

something moved in the shadow

as though taking a bow

in the afternoon glow

having only the phonecam

trying hard not to make any sound

adjusting to get into the frame

blooming orchids in the background 

took just one small click of the camera

for half a dozen sensitive creatures

to take off and disappear

leaving me with only pictures

taken through the window glass

of Zebra doves feeding in the grass
